An independent guide to the best professional advisors for high-net-worth individuals has given recognition to two partners and private wealth experts at Gloucestershire law firm Willans LLP.
The prestigious Chambers High Net Worth guide is published each year internationally and has been running for five years – having ranked Willans in each edition since it began. Using a rigorous selection process, it provides recommendations of ‘go-to’ professionals, including lawyers and financial advisors, to high-net-worth individuals.
Two of Willans’ partners – head of wills, trusts & probate, Simon Cook, and head of dispute resolution Paul Gordon – have again been named as ‘notable practitioners’ in the guide. One of the firm’s departments has also received recognition for its expertise and client service in the area of private wealth law.
Quoted in the guide, a market insider describes Willans as “efficient, knowledgeable, helpful and effective”, with another observing “(The lawyers) are clearly experts in their field, understanding and very thorough in their advice.”
Receiving a top-tier Band 1 ranking, partner Simon Cook leads Willans’ wills, trusts & probate team, which assists a range of clients with wills and estate planning, deputyship applications, inheritance tax and lasting powers of attorney. Client interviewees quoted in the guide say he is “extremely competent, knowledgeable and very approachable” and “has an in-depth knowledge and wide experience of his areas of expertise”
Paul Gordon is head of the firms’ litigation & dispute resolution team and is also recognised for his expertise in private wealth disputes, contentious probate and trusts. A client quoted in the guide says he is “very knowledgeable, informative, and has a pragmatic approach”, and praises “his patience and understanding in dealing with multiple clients and always finding time to explain and discuss the case.”
Bridget Redmond, Willans’ managing partner, commented: “Simon and Paul really are leaders in their respective fields and I am delighted that this has been recognised independently once again. Both of them deliver outstanding technical expertise to clients in an approachable, responsive and clear way, and that encapsulates our ethos here at Willans.”
Willans employs around 90 staff across its offices in Cheltenham’s Imperial Square. The firm, established in 1947, advises commercial businesses, individuals, charities and not-for-profit organisations based locally, nationally and internationally.
Chambers High Net Worth is compiled yearly by independent editors, who decide the rankings based on a range of factors including technical legal ability, client service & satisfaction, responsiveness, depth of team and commercial vision.
