Workshops and Activities for the Business Community
Wellbeing Workshop 2 – Workplace wellbeing for Employers & New Employees – Bridging the Education to Employment Gap and looking at Neurodiversity in the workplace – what can we do better:
A Collaborative Conversation, will unite students and businesses to explore the key elements of a successful transition from education to the workplace, while addressing how to attract and embrace diversity, equity, inclusion (E, D & I), and neurodiverse talent.
Afternoon session for students and employers
- Firstly, they need to be aware of how an apprentice or first time employee might feel when they come into the workplace. If they have no previous work experience everything will feel very new and different and it is very easy to become overwhelmed. What can an employer do to reduce the problem?
- Workplace relationships – we will expand on the employer obligations and ways of handling issues.
- On Stress – we will expand on how to identify when someone is suffering from stress and how to deal with it.
- On the element of conversation, we will focus more on how an employer should have that conversation and the shape of the conversation.
- On neurodiversity, we will discuss the sort of adjustments employers can easily make – and go into some detail about how people who are neurodiverse feel in the workplace. By understanding this, both colleagues and managers will have a much better awareness and therefore relate much better to employees.
Speaker – Rosie Runciman, BBC Programme Editor and Director at Sound Doctor.
Speaker – Susie Phillips-Baker – Deputy Chief Psychologist and special neurodiversity consultancy www.lexxic.com
What You Need to Know About Bridging the Gap and Embracing Neurodiversity in the Workplace
Join us for a crucial discussion on neurodiversity in the workplace, aimed at businesses. Hosted by former BBC journalist, programme editor and creator of The Mindful Apprentice podcast series, Rosie Runciman, and Susie Phillips-Baker, an occupational psychologist specialising in neurodiversity, this session underlines the importance of understanding neurodiverse colleagues and how we can help them get the most out of their life at work. We will discuss what drives certain behaviours and look at different ways of creating an inclusive environment which makes neurodiverse people feel more comfortable and at ease at work.. Education and awareness are fundamental, and this talk will highlight how small, low-cost adjustments can be transformational. For those who are neurodiverse, it is equally important to attend to find out what help is out there, and how you can request a multitude of adjustments which are vital for your safety and happiness at work.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a more inclusive and supportive workplace.
