On the day we ran a competition for the students; by completing their activity cards they could enter the free prize draw to win work placement experiences for their schools. We asked them to engage with at least 7 businesses and tell us what they thought of the day and what they most enjoyed.

Our initiative supports the governments’ objective of getting work experience for all students and the importance of this engagement for their personal development.

A recent report revealed that only 49% of GCSE aged young people had undertaken some form of work experience in the 2023/24 academic year. While this was slightly higher in the South West at 59.4%, it was also reported that only 2% of pupils nationally have been in work experience for two or more weeks. The Labour Party’s election manifesto pledged to guarantee two weeks’ worth of quality work experience for every young person and turbocharge careers advice in the UK.

Our C2S Initiative goes some way to suppoting this!

We had over 1,517 business engagements with students recorded on the activity cards returned.

The draw has taken place and the winning schools will be notified and connected to the organisations.

We had over 60 work experience opportunities donated from exhibitors and the business community, a huge success and a huge thank you to everyone that supported this initiative and our future talent.
