At the start of January we hinted at some exciting announcements to look out for in 2021, and this is the first of them. Last Year Hope for Tomorrow submitted a funding application to Pharmaceutical company, Bristol Myers Squib (BMS) and we are delighted to say that our application was successful and BMS have donated a phenomenal £750,000 to help us expand the reach of our Mobile Cancer Care Units.
We have big plans for how the money will be used, funding two additional Mobile Cancer Care Units with the potential for us to expand our capacity by up to 30% . This means we could deliver an additional 6,500 cancer treatments on board a Mobile Cancer Care Unit each year.
Chief Executive of Hope for Tomorrow, Tina Seymour said: “The Covid-19 pandemic makes our Mobile Cancer Care Units more valuable than ever. With the NHS increasingly overstretched and cancer care now in crisis this incredibly generous donation from Bristol Myers Squibb, enabling us to build and launch two new Mobile Cancer Care Units, will enable continuity of care in a safe and convenient environment for thousands more patients”
The new build projects have already begun and we’ll be sharing regular updates with our supporters.
