An award-winning initiative by University of Gloucestershire is connecting future students with businesses in the community to give them a taste of the lifestyle and opportunities they can enjoy while studying in Cheltenham and Gloucester.
The Gloucester Food Dock – home to 10 independent food and drink businesses – Freedom Leisure and Gloucester Quays are among the organisations supporting the University’s Get Uni Ready event for prospective students.
Last year’s event won the Gold Award for Best Event Experience at the highly prestigious HEIST Awards that recognise and celebrate excellence across the Higher Education sector.
This year, visitors to the Get Uni Ready event on Sunday, 27 April (11am to 3pm) will have opportunities to explore how local businesses and organisations in and around Cheltenham and Gloucester will help them to enjoy a positive experience while living and studying in the region.
These include businesses located close to the University’s new City Campus in Gloucester city centre, which will open its doors to more than 1,000 students later this year as the state-of-the-art home to the University’s Education, Psychology and Social Work programmes.
An immersive student lifestyle event, Get Uni Ready will include cooking demonstrations, drop-in sessions with the University’s Money Advice, Admissions and Disability Support teams, and tours of accommodation so prospective students can see where they might be living when they come to study at the University.
