At this breakfast we will hear firsthand from Ian Renton, Regional Director at Cheltenham Racecourse.

“Ian Renton has been at the helm of Cheltenham Racecourse for just over ten years. In this time, the racecourses most famous event, The Festival has grown extensively and now attracts nearly quarter of a million racegoers, making it one of the biggest social and sporting occasions in the world.

Next year’s Festival will be his last, as he hands over the reins to Guy Lavender, who joins the Jockey Club from Marlybone Cricket Club.

Last year’s Festival, despite being worth an estimated £275m to the local economy, was not without its critics. It also suffered a small down-turn on public attendance and there was question marks raised over the Irish racing dominance, that racing fans believed impacted the competitiveness of the sport.

Ian Renton and the Cheltenham Racecourse team are planning on making some significant changes to take the Festival forward in 2025 with the promise of improving the customer experience at the forefront of the discussions.
