What a great opportunity to bring C2S members and their guests together to enjoy a day of cricket at the worlds oldest cricket festival! A sold out event with 160 people attending.
Gloucestershire Cricket is one of the 18 first class County Cricket Clubs in the UK. They were established in 1870, with WG Grace a founding member, one of the most famous and influential cricketers in history. Cheltenham Cricket Festival is the longest running Cricket Festival on a Festival Ground in the world. It was started by James Lillywhite in 1872 with the first match being played against Surrey and was won by Gloucestershire. No other Cricket Festival in the world has been played on the same ground for that length of time and no other cricket festival in the world lasts for twelve days or more. This is a very exciting year for the Club as they celebrate their 150th Anniversary and we were delighted to hear from Nigel Priscott, Deputy Chief Executive of the Club about some of their plans and the season so far.
Many thanks to our sponsors Investec and Gloucestershire Airport. Thank you to Investec for bringing along their special friend! Not everyone can have a life size zebra at their event – it was certainly a talking point and made for great photo back drops!
The winner of the competition to name the zebra will be announced soon. So watch this space to see if you are the winner of a magnum of champagne!

We heard from Gloucestershire Airport Managing Director, Karen Taylor on the investment at the airport and how they can support local and regional businesses. Gloucestershire Airport is the UK’s busiest general aviation airport and the gateway to the south west and south east of England. Recent redevelopment works have now been compete and heralds the start of a new chapter for Gloucestershire Airport – possibly the single most transformative period in their recent history. The airport is at the top end of aviation standards and technology, these vital upgrades elevate the quality and status of the airport and, together with ongoing work to deliver CGX Connect, serve as the catalyst enabling us to actively explore additional revenue streams and realise the long-term strategy for sustainable growth. Karen urged businesses to talk to the airport about their transport needs and see how they can help.
We were delighted to raise £3000 for our charity of the day Lilian Faithfull Care.
