National Family Mediation week starts on 27th January and like last year the Family Mediation Council is hosting a number of free webinars open to mediators, lawyers and the public. Topics include a presentation on hybrid mediation, the benefits of attending a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM), the importance of child-inclusive mediation and information on research findings regarding mediation.
There are sessions for you if you are a member of the public and interested in family mediation because you are going or have been through separation, as well as for professionals who work with families every day and see the impact separation can have. There are also webinars for you if you are a professional who works in the family justice system as a lawyer, mediators or in another role, which will help increase your understanding of mediation as part of your continuing professional development.
Helen Cankett, Family Mediator and Partner in the Family Team at BPE Solicitors, says “There has been a greater focus on separating couples attempting some form of non-court dispute resolution before resorting to court proceedings since the court rules were updated in April last year. Family mediation continues to offer a safe and supportive option for couples to come and discuss their financial settlement and child arrangements with the assistance of an impartial mediator and avoid the uncertainties of the court process.”
The Family Mediation Council are excited to bring you a great set of webinars during Family Mediation Week 2025, which should help everyone learn more about family mediation. All webinars are free to attend. They will be adding more details and registration in the coming days, so please save the dates with the following link and check back shortly for more info!
