Have you been to SkillZONE in Gloucester?

SkillZONE provide interactive life skills for people of all ages and abilities.

As stated on SkillZONE’s website, SkillZONE is Gloucestershire’s only interactive life skills village where people of all ages can learn how to keep themselves safe whether at home or in their community. They offer safety education and bespoke programmes for schools and community groups.

“Knife Or Your Life” Programme

SkillZONE’s “Knife or Your Life” programme is an intervention aimed at reducing youth violence, county lines involvement, and antisocial behavior. Designed for Year 9 students, the programme provides a creative perspective on addressing these pressing issues affecting many youths. Through interactive sessions and real-life scenarios, students are empowered to make safer choices and understand the serious consequences of carrying weapons and engaging in illegal activities.

Trips to SkillZONE

SkillZONE’s immersive experiences provide participants with valuable, hands-on insights into a wide range of safety scenarios, allowing them to build essential skills that can be applied in everyday life. Through our carefully designed interactive exhibits, visitors are not only educated on how to recognise potential hazards but are also guided on the best practices for preventing accidents. Additionally, they gain critical knowledge on how to respond effectively to emergencies, ensuring they are better equipped to handle challenging situations with confidence. By the end of their experience, participants leave with a deeper understanding of safety at home and in the community and the ability to make informed decisions that can protect themselves and others in real-life situations.

Preparation for Adulthood Programme

The SkillZONE Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) programme is a tailored initiative designed to empower young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) as they transition into adulthood. Through interactive sessions and personalised support, the programme equips participants with essential life skills, safety awareness and confidence to navigate the challenges of adulthood effectively.

Abbey Business Interiors were asked to complete three separate AV installations:

  1.  Update the visual display and sound system in the cinema room

2. Install touch screens so users can interact at each stage of the journey, in this case purchasing tickets and learning about the dangers associated with railway lines/stations.

3. Install touch screens in another zone so users can interact and learn about the dangers associated with organised crime.

Great project to have worked on – if you haven’t been yet we recommend you go check it out!
