Welcome to Gloucestershire Airport
The story of Gloucestershire Airport Ltd (GAL) is one of commercial vision, investment, imagination and collaboration. From its humble beginnings as a site to demonstrate de Havilland Moth aircraft and military use, through its evolution as a municipal airport and flourishing role as a centre for general aviation, today Gloucestershire Airport is a thriving business and recreation airport. Consistently handling up to 80,000 aircraft movements a year, it is one of the UK’s busiest general aviation airports.
Sitting right on the doorstep of Cheltenham and Gloucester, Gloucestershire Airport plays a key role in supporting the local economy both as an important travel gateway for many organisations across the region, and as a base for a range of businesses, including engineering, aerospace, plus charter flights, flight training, and pleasure flights.
Its strategic location also means it has a central role to play in helping to realise the county’s economic development ambitions – particularly in respect of the delivery of the cyber development at Golden Valley and Gloucester’s digital campus, The Forum.
Looking to the future, the Airport is already realising its long-term vision for growth as a sustainable business having embarked on a major capital investment programme to refurbish two of its runways and install new radar comms equipment. Add to this delivery of the new CGX Connect Business Park development will provide employment and growth opportunities for the county attracting both national and international companies making it a destination of choice.
