The Compliance Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring we continue to operate within legal and regulatory frameworks, that we continue to mitigate risks and we continue to uphold best practice to ensure first class client care.

This is a varied and interesting role and one where you will have the opportunity to influence and further champion a culture of compliance ensuring its embedded in our daily operations.

About You:

You must possess a combination of technical knowledge, analytical skills, and leadership abilities.

You will be passionate about your field of expertise, a terrific communicator and able to thrive under pressure. In addition, you will:

• Have previous experience of working in a similar role within a law firm as a Compliance Manager or working as part of a compliance team and looking for your next career opportunity;
• Have a strong understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks affecting the legal industry and a good knowledge of data protection laws, anti-money laundering regulations, financial crime, and professional conduct rules;
• Be experienced in identifying training needs and designing and delivering training to educate and instil behaviours that promote ethical decision-making and regulatory adherence;
• Present a positive, approachable, and flexible can-do attitude encouraging an open culture where employees feel comfortable to raise compliance concerns; and
• Be able to build strong relationships to be a trusted advisor tailoring guidance to different teams' needs and be able to demonstrate the ability to influence, guide and support individuals at all levels of the Company.

About the Role:

Role responsibilities include (but not limited to):

• Develop, implement, and oversee compliance policies and procedures;
• Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, including AML, GDPR and SRA regulations;
• Provide expert advice and training to our teams including support staff;
• Monitor regulatory updates and proactively adjust policies;
• Investigate compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions; and
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders.

About You:

• A a minimum of 8 years PQE is desirable (although this does not preclude those with more or or less experience)
• A proven track record of proactively handling a varied caseload of private family matters such as Child Arrangement Orders, Divorce, Matrimonial Finance, Post Nuptial Arrangements and Cohabitation Disputes etc
• A demonstrable track record of achieving career and financial (fee targets) goals and strong commercial awareness
• A passion for business development activities
• Experience of supervising and mentoring more junior fee earners and trainees
• Experience of using case management systems

Our Corporate and Commercial team is growing! To support our continued growth, we are seeking a commercially minded and driven Corporate and Commercial Associate/Senior Associate to join our team.

We team provides tailored legal solutions to a diverse range of clients and are known for delivering business-focussed advice and fostering long-term client relationships.

The Corporate and Commercial team work on a range of matters including, but not limited to:

Mergers and acquisitions
Investment agreements
Shareholder agreements and joint ventures
Corporate reorganisations
EMI options and share schemes
LLPs and partnerships
Commercial contracts
Due diligence

The successful candidate will work alongside the Corporate and Commercial Director to assist in the development of the Corporate and Commercial offering.

You will work closely with clients to deliver high-quality advice and further enhance our client base.

The Corporate and Commercial team mainly act for owner managed businesses and corporate transactions range in value from £500K to £25m.

About 20% of our work is advising on commercial contracts which also have a wide range in value, subject to matter and complexity.

You will be required to:

• Develop your own matter list
• Draft, review and negotiate on a broad range of transactional, corporate and commercial documents on behalf of clients
• Understand and assess client circumstances, their needs, objectives, priorities, constraints, providing the highest level of client care
• Participate in the growth and development of the department and the wider business
• Achieve designated levels of billing and time recording
• Mentor and support junior members of the team

About You:

You will be a commercially astute solicitor with strong technical skills and a passion for delivering exception client care. To excel in this role, you will need:

• A minimum of 5 years PQE, although this does not preclude applicants with more or less experience
• Demonstrable knowledge of corporate law, including agreements, articles of association, LLP's and partnerships and preferably knowledge and experience of advising on commercial contracts for the supply of goods and services etc.
• The ability to draft legal documents to a high standard with excellent attention to detail
• To have a passion for business development
• A good understanding of risk and compliance
• A proactive and client-focussed approach, with the ability to manage a busy caseload effectively
• Strong organisational and time management skills, able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
