Offsetting 25 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide (CO2e) for every car we lease
Every time we lease a car or van we invest in Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Gold Standard carbon reduction projects to compensate for the carbon created by the vehicle manufacturer, such as preserving the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor in Guatemala.
Through our partners at Ecologi, we offset more CO2e emissions than are generated through the production process of a vehicle and its battery, which on average is around 15-20 tonnes, although this can depend on the manufacturer and carbon density of the electricity network at the manufacturing plant. As an example, the carbon life cycle assessment of the Mercedes-Benz EQC demonstrates that 16.4 tonnes of carbon are created by the time the vehicle rolls off the production line.
