Renishaw’s Encoder Products Division (EPD) designs and supplies cutting-edge position feedback technology to the world’s precision measurement, automation, and manufacturing industries. It is highly likely that something you own contains a part or device that was manufactured with the help of one of Renishaw’s encoder products.

EPD is made up of engineers, scientists and technicians all working together to produce market leading products for sale around the world. We start with cutting edge optical, algorithm and circuit designs, developing our own ASICs and sensors where required. We then use innovative mechanical engineering to turn our core technology into a range of desirable products for our broad customer base.

Working closely with colleagues in our manufacturing division, we develop manufacturing and assembly processes and software to deliver quality products by the hundreds of thousands that in turn, perform reliably and repeatedly to sub-micron accuracies for our customers.

We are now recruiting for a New Product Introduction Engineer to help design and develop new processes for a suite of products under development.

Responsibilities:

- Designing, developing and introducing processes for the automated assembly and testing of new products.
- Working alongside the wider design team, developing strategies for the assembly of new products.
- Ensuring new processes are safe, controlled, robust, capable and efficient.
- Utilising production control technology within the process where appropriate.
- Reporting and documenting the development and introduction of the process ready for transfer to manufacturing.
- Supporting product and process verification and validation for the design team.

Key requirements:

- Degree level education in a relevant technical discipline such as, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or Systems Engineering. Or a HNC/HND level education with significant experience in a related engineering field.
- Experience with design of electro-mechanical systems: integration of robotics, PLCs, pneumatic/electronic drives etc.
- An understanding of mechanical tooling and fixture design
- Good PC skills and the ability to work with minimal support

Desirable requirements:

- A working knowledge and understanding of Siemens NX CAD or a similar equivalent CAD package.
- Understanding of relational databases e.g., SQL
- Experience working with optical systems
- Knowledge of DfA/DfM, Process FMEA or Six Sigma
- Knowledge of production assembly techniques and their application to assembly processes.
- Knowledge of PLCs and vision systems, automated systems

Up to £90,000 Interim Senior Legal Counsel

Job Description:

Senior Legal Counsel (maternity cover – 1 year fixed term) – commercial contracts lawyer
Wotton under Edge / Hybrid working (office based 3 days a week, 45 minutes from Bristol and Cheltenham)
Salary up to £90,000 & car allowance

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Legal Counsel for a one year maternity cover, to become part of our global 26+ legal, company secretarial and compliance team (“L&S”).

You will report to the Group Legal Director based in our head office in the UK and work closely with senior stakeholders, including divisional and functional heads.

Although this role is temporary, there may be other opportunities in the wider L&S team at the end of the fixed one year term for the right person.

Key Responsibilities:

- Act as a key contact for senior stakeholders in a range of business units and corporate support departments to help influence and implement business strategy and direction.
- Review, draft and negotiate high-value, complex commercial contracts with customers, sales intermediaries, and other key business partners.
- Supporting on L&S change projects that underpin the business’s key objectives across multiple disciplines.
- Support operational and commercial functions with day-to-day legal queries and issues.
- Assist in maintaining the L&S team’s templates, precedents and other know-how materials.
- Provide practical solutions to complex legal problems in the manner of an experienced business partner.
- Procure and manage external specialist counsel (as required)
- Support the Group General Counsel and Company Secretary, Group Legal Director and other senior lawyers as required, both in the UK and internationally.

Key requirements:

- Qualified solicitor (England and Wales) with 8+ years’ experience in delivering pragmatic, commercial legal advice in a demanding and evolving business environment.
- Excellent technical knowledge of commercial law and drafting skills.
- Superior analytical skills and a creative, flexible approach to problem solving.
- An ability to interact with people at all levels in the business.
- Display impeccable integrity and a willingness and ability to lead by example.
- A deep understanding of the challenges of a fast-moving, revenue generating business (ideally with experience in-house in the manufacturing and/or engineering sectors).
- An appetite to continually learn and share your experience and knowledge.

Preferred:
Experience in any of the following:

- data protection and privacy
- real estate and property
- company secretarial, M&A and or corporate governance
- competition and antitrust
- software licensing
- working knowledge of intellectual property in commercial contracts
- fluency in another language

Person specification:

Up to £40,000 Development Machinist

Location - Stonehouse
Salary - Up to £40,000 + 30% shift premium depending on experience

Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for a number for CNC machinists within Low Volume Manufacturing working a 3 shift pattern (6am – 2pm, 2pm – 10pm & 10pm – 6am).

The purpose of the role is to provide additional programming, setting and operating resource to support the increased production demand of specials and low volume production parts.

Responsibilities:

- Setting / Operating CNC machines (Milling or Turning) to the standard set and run times
- Interpret drawings and use initiative in deciding tooling selection and the method of manufacture
- Monitor the quality of components using a wide range of equipment including CMM inspection and complete departmental quality documentation
- Generate new component part programmes with the aid of Gibbs CAM programming software and subsequent prove out of new processes

Key requirements:

- Applicants must have served an apprenticeship and have expertise in using a variety of CNC machine tools, including milling or turning
- A sound knowledge of manufacturing methodology to ensure that new processes are both capable and efficient.
- Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills
- Good PC skills are essential

Desirable requirements:

- A comprehensive knowledge of CNC machining with some programming knowledge is desirable.
- Experience using a variety of inspection methods including CMMs
- Expertise in the use of GibbsCam software would be desirable although full training will be provided for successful applicants

Up to £45,000 DOE Senior Trade Compliance Officer

Job Description:

Senior Trade Compliance Officer
Salary range: Up to £45,000 DOE
Hybrid working: 3 days per week in the office
Location: Ideally based at Miskin in South Wales, but can also be the New Mills or Woodchester sites in Gloucestershire.

As our Senior Trade Compliance Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that Renishaw's manufacturing division complies with all customs and trade regulations, navigating international trade laws with sound ethical judgment and pragmatism.

Responsibilities:

- Focus on export declarations and their accuracy. This includes carrying out export declaration checks and continuous audits
- Provide accurate Tariff Classification guidelines to the business to ensure accuracy
- Assist in customs valuation in line with global rules and liaising with the Group Finance Team
- Develop a close working relationship with the Miskin warehouse team to establish trade compliance improvement areas
- Assist with the IP operational process in terms of ensuring adherence to HMRC requirements – this will involve close liaison with the UK Import, Export, and Repair functions as well as Group Export Control, Group Finance, and Subsidiaries as appropriate
- Create, maintain and develop processes to capture, record and report on Trade - - Compliance topics
- Maintain relevant import and export operating procedures in line with HMRC legislative requirements
- Undertake various areas of project work related to Trade Compliance activities.

Key requirements:

- Extensive knowledge of HMRC trade legislation and laws related to import/export processes
- Experience/knowledge of the following: CHIEF (Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight), CFSP (Customs Freight Simplified Procedures), CDS (Customs Declaration Service), NES (National Export System), HMRC import/export commercial documentation requirements, HMRC commodity codes & classifications
- A high level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel

Desirable:

- Formal recognised qualifications gained in import/export processes
- Experience in the use of ERP systems
- Working knowledge of Sage, SyteLine, and/or Microsoft Dynamics365 ERP software packages (although appropriate training will be provided)
- The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact within a diverse multi-level organisation. The individual must possess excellent organisational skills, be able to prioritise, and work under pressure to meet deadlines. An effective problem solver with a meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a team environment and on their own initiative are paramount in this role.
