We’re The Nelson Trust. We’re a charity that brings belief, hope and long-term recovery to people whose lives have been torn apart by addiction and the multiple and complex needs that come with it. We provide residential addiction treatment to men and women. We also support women in the community who are in contact with the criminal justice system. You can read more about how we help below.
How our approach turns lives around
Lifelong recovery is much more than abstinence from drugs and alcohol. It’s about finding a whole new way of living. So to overcome addiction, we treat its causes. We give everyone that leaves our care the tools and support they need to manage the stresses of everyday life and live independently, without the need for any mood-altering substances.
Beating addiction and breaking the cycle of relapse
Our residential abstinence-based treatment programmes are here to help our clients achieve genuine long-lasting recovery. A stay with us provides much-needed emotional support, improves physical health and provides the tools needed to live a new life of freedom and happiness.
Women’s Community Services
Our three Women’s Centres offer both practical and emotional support for women within key areas of their lives. Our clients are women and girls with multiple and complex needs and who are either in, or at risk of becoming involved in, the Criminal Justice System in Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Bristol and Wales.
Support to start over
For many people, a move back home will put their recovery at risk. Some clients were homeless before treatment or may have come to us directly from prison. The Nelson Trust offers low support resettlement housing for clients – a stepping stone between treatment and fully independent living.
