Nike: Time for You to View Consumers as Collaborators
We believe Nike has an incredible opportunity to start seeing their consumers not as buyers but collaborators.
Nike have loads (millions) of fans. Nike are really hard on creators that take a basic Nike shoe and customise it to sell. I get it. They want to protect the brand.
But, imagine if creative people could leverage Nike’s production & distribution so passionate consumers could set up their own digital Nike stores and sell their own range of designs.
Nike still control everything but by giving their consumers a platform, Nike can empower its community to live more creative and expressive lives and earn money through their (trainer/sneaker) passion.
Granted, Nike don’t ‘need’ more money but it would move them into the space of YouTube which has users making that organisation billions of dollars, and they only pay on commission which is what Nike would do. Every sale their creators make, they make a monster cut. It’s like they’d be expanding their footprint exponentially.
You could even make it exclusive, so designs would have to be submitted to Nike for approval.
Imagine the possibilities when consumers become co-creators and retailers.
