Solar Power Provider Voltalia Spreads its Wings at Bond’s Mill, Stonehouse

Thriving renewable energy provider Voltalia UK has expanded into new offices in Bond’s Mill, Stonehouse, owned by Robert Hitchins Ltd.

The company, established in 2012, has grown considerably since 2018 as more businesses look to secure sources of green power. It now has six sites either under construction or in operation and provides solar power to, amongst others, the City of London Corporation and the CoOp.

Its staff now occupy a total 2,636 sq ft in the Heron and Hawk Suites at Bond’s Mill, Stonehouse, a business park which sits on the A419 alongside the Stroudwater Canal and River Frome in a mix of refurbished Victorian mill buildings and modern commercial premises.

Office Co-Ordinator Jenna Tomblin said: “Voltalia’s staff presence in the UK has increased from humble beginnings to nearly 60 staff. At Bond’s Mill we have our biggest UK office where most of our development team are based.

“The office provides us with the flexibility we need to create a welcoming space where people want to come to work and mix with colleagues – even though we offer fully flexible working arrangements.

“Extending the space we work in gives us more room for meetings and mixing socially. The team at Bond’s Mill have supported us every step of the way and we’re grateful for the warm welcome they’ve extended to us.”

Robert Hitchins’ Asset and Administration Manager at Bond’s Mill, Helen Hawke, welcomed the expansion of Voltalia UK.

“We are proud of our track record in looking after our tenants and we’re pleased to be able to play a part in helping their businesses to thrive at Bond’s Mill,” she said.

“Voltalia’s expansion into the Hawk Suite as an exceptional facility for meetings and staff wellbing very much chimes with our policy at Bond’s Mill where we provide several facilities for all tenants’ use – breakout areas inside and outside, a self-service café, estate showers, bike storage, table tennis and darts, a prayer room and a wellbeing room for activities such as yoga and art.”

Bond’s Mill, a mile from J13 of the M5, accommodates 40 tenants in premises ranging from 100 to 15,000 sq ft and is home to many start-ups as well as established companies such as UK Power Solutions, Staffline – Omega Resource and RSK Biocensus.

Robert Hitchins, based at Boddington in Gloucestershire, is one of the leading property developers and investors in the South West and South Wales. It provides the full development process from site acquisition and planning through to development and investment.
