In-house Food Waste Service launched at the start of October to help our customers comply with the new Simpler Recycling legislation effective 31st March 2025
The food waste part of the legislation requires commercial organisations who produce more than 5kg of food waste per week, or businesses with more than 10 full-time employees equivalent, to separate food waste from their general waste bins
- They must have a dedicated food waste storage, collection & recycling service in place with a contracted supplier.
- As standard, most businesses will require either a 120L or 240L bin but Printwaste offer a wide range of storage options to compliment our customers operational workflows
We have invested in a specialised food waste vehicle which has 360 dynamic camera system, on-board weighing and full bin rinsing facilities – even accommodating a kitchen sink for drivers to wash their hands
- Bin rinse and bag re-line option available to customers to ensure bins are fully-sanitised post-collection
- Post-collection, the food waste collected is turned into renewable energy or nutrient-rich bio fertiliser. We send this to a local anaerobic digestion facility as part of our localisation strategy to reduce our carbon footprint.
This forms part of our total waste management solution for commercial organisations, helping them to achieve zero-to-landfill status and boost their recycling rates.
Because food is heavy, segregating waste can also reduce waste management costs by mitigating against higher disposal costs typically charged with general waste and landfill collections
