Every year Women in Defence UK holds an awards ceremony at The Guildhall in London as a testament to the extraordinary contributions women, men, individuals and teams make to defence.
Every winner has a story of overcoming challenges, breaking barriers, and effecting positive change within their organisations. By sharing their stories, more individuals are inspired to step forward, challenge barriers, and contribute to the transformation of the defence sector.
The inspirational award recognises individuals who have demonstrated having inspired or positively influenced the choices of other colleagues.
Louise Speaight, Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications for L3Harris Intelligence and Cyber International, was nominated by her peers for the inspirational award and shortlisted as one of only 33 finalists out of 500 submissions. This was in recognition of her strategic vision in transforming the local L3Harris WE3 Employee Resource Group into a cohesive and impactful UK-wide initiative. WE3 stands for Women Who Strive for Empowering, Enhancing & Encouraging Other Women. Since founding the UK Chapter, Louise’s vision and leadership has inspired 11 L3Harris sites across the UK to unite and membership has flourished exponentially witnessing a remarkable 1000% increase in members and a 450% increase in allyship to date. This has made it a powerful agent for change, driving significant progress towards a more equitable workplace.
Although Louise ultimately didn’t take home the winner’s trophy, it was an incredible achievement and raised both hers and L3Harris’ profile in the eyes of defence customers and industry peers.
